While most of us crave to have skin that looks like it has been airbrushed, the reality is that by the time we reach adulthood, the impact of our lifestyle choices and our environment have usually left their mark on the skin, meaning that few of us can claim to have skin that doesn’t need a little TLC. Thankfully, the aesthetics industry ensures there is a host of treatments available that allow our skin to be treated to eliminate common imperfections such as acne, pigmentation and open pores.
Moreover, given how image-conscious modern society has become including the emergence of the “selfie” culture, there is an unprecedented demand for effective aesthetics treatments that halt or even reverse the signs of aging. This has fueled a massive growth in the industry, which has resulted in the development of cutting-edge research and technology that has then been translated into innovative non-invasive treatments, many of which boast no down-time.
One such example is Ultherapy, which uses safe, time-tested ultrasound energy to lift and tighten the skin naturally—without surgery or downtime. Ultrasound, of course, has been used safely throughout the medical field for more than 50 years—and Ultherapy has been established as safe and effective in clinical studies and in over half a million treatments worldwide. In fact, Ultherapy is proven to be the best non-invasive alternative to plastic surgery on the market and it is the only non-invasive procedure that has been FDA-cleared to lift skin on the neck, under the chin and on the eyebrow.
While Ultherapy relies on ultrasound therapy to deliver its collagen-boosting treatment, it also incorporates traditional ultrasound imaging, which allows practitioners to see the layers of tissue they are treating, ensuring the treatment energy is delivered to where it will be most beneficial. The Ultherapy procedure stimulates collagen production by delivering focused ultrasound energy to the skin’s foundational layer typically addressed in cosmetic surgery—without cutting or disrupting the surface of the skin. Unlike lasers, radio frequency, surgery and other technologies, non-surgical Ultherapy bypasses the surface of the skin to deliver the right amount of ultrasound energy at the right depths and the right temperature. This process creates microscopic points of thermal injury, which jumpstarts the regenerative process that produces fresh, new collagen. With the process triggering the body’s natural response to repair-heal and to replace the damaged cells with fresh, collagen-rich tissue, over time this new collagen lifts the skin.

This pioneering treatment is acclaimed as a lunchtime treatment, meaning it requires no downtime, only takes 45-60 minutes and leaves you looking younger and more refreshed without a scalpel in sight! With its ability to stimulate collagen production to tighten the skin around the neck and face, it’s the perfect treatment for those who don’t need (or who are not ready for) a facelift. What’s more, those who have tried the revolutionary treatment are still reaping the benefits two years later.
Of course, there is little point investing in treatments, unless you follow a professionally-recommended skincare routine. As most of our cellular repair is done through the night, we should prioritise cleansing routines in the evening, followed by using skin-specific products that will ensure your skin looks its absolute best. Below are the steps that comprise a great evening skincare routine.
Step 1: do a double cleanse. If you wear a lot of makeup or your skin gets blocked, then use a gentle cleanser with a clarisonic brush but don’t over use it or it can cause damage.
Step2: use a masque to purify and hydrate the skin and make it more susceptible to absorb the products you would put on after.
Step 3: apply retinol as it is anti-aging, stimulates collagen and helps cell regeneration.
Step 4: use a good quality hydrating moisturiser, with hyaluronic acid and Vitamin C.
Step 5: apply an eye serum and pat it around the eye.
The best advice I can give for ensuring your skin is the healthiest and most youthful that it possibly can be is to take a 360 approach. It is vital that as well as using professionally-recommended skincare products and treatments, you also have a healthy lifestyle that includes lots of water, exercise and a balanced diet. Also, don’t underestimate the importance of sunscreen!
